EBS visited the Montreux Jazz Festival for the Grand Opening of this years festivities the past weekend. EBS Artist Etienne Mbappé was the bass player of the All Star Band to open the show, featuring Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin, as well as drummers Dennis Chambers and Cindy Blackman-Santana, among others. Here’s a few pics for ya!
- A nice view of the beautiful Lake Geneva where the Montreux city is located.
- EBS was well represented as the main backline on six of the stages, and with selected artists on the big stages. Here’s the little Media Stage.
- …and the Music In Park stage.
- The fancy Palace Hotel, where the main acts stayed.
- BBS Rental representant Pascal, a guy from Ibanez, Serge Olar from EBS Swiss distributor Music Olar, and Bo, the president of EBS.
- The All Star Band in action. Guitarist Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin with bass player Etienne Mbappé and the EBS rig in center of the stage.

- These guys really enjoyed playing together – and the rig delivered!
- Serge Olar and Dennis Chambers at the After Party
- John McLaughlin in focus. When not doing special events like this, or playing in some of his own bands, Etienne Mbappé is the bass player in John’s band the 4th Generation.

The Montreux Jazz Festival will go on for weeks and feature more excellent artists that will be powered by EBS – so if you plan to go…keep your eyes open!
